Adam Rains

I was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec where I attended Dawson College in the Health Sciences. I obtained my undergraduate degree in biology from New College of the University of South Florida (Sarasota, FL) before returning to Montreal to complete a Master of Science in Epidemiology at McGill University. I subsequently moved to Rochester, New York and spent several years working as Lead Analyst / Programmer for the Division of Public Health Practice at the University of Rochester’s Department of Community and Preventive Medicine. While I continue to teach whenever the opportunity presents itself, I have spent the last few years working as a freelance public health consultant and analyst.

My research interests relate to the interaction of culture, technology, and environment in the mediation of health. My recent work has focused on community health assessment, informatics, telemedicine, and technological approaches to improving data collection, access to care, surveillance, and education.
